Yorkdale announced today that it will be getting another makeover, and it's going to cost them a pretty penny. The new renovation will cost them approximately $220 million and it scheduled to be completed by late 2012. When finished, Yorkdale will have:
- 145, 000 square feet of new space for 40 more stores
- A new food court which would double the current seating
- Reusable utensils and dishes to reduce waste by 85%
- An outdoor patio dining area for the summer
- 65, 000 square feet of green roof to reduce atmospheric heating
- Nicer landscaping (I'm assuming more plants and greenery?)
- A contribution to the Yorkdale Community Arts Centre
- 800 more parking spaces with a new valet area
Yorkdale's first renovation was in 2005. What do you think? I'm pretty excited for this reno. It's going to be spectacular! Hurray for new and more designer stores!
