Target Moving Up North of the Border

You might have heard this already: popular US retail chain Target will soon be coming on Canadian soil as it plans to replace Canadian retailer (owned by the Hudson's Bay Company) Zellers. Approximiately 220 Zellers locations will be bought out by Target. The 'cheap-chic' retailer plans to open 100 to 150 stores by 2013/2014.
Although it is sad to see the American market streaming in and slowly eliminating our Canadian retailers, this is exciting news! Many are already comparing Target to Walmart, as heavy competition is anticipated, but with all the designer collaborations, can you say it's more in competition against H&M? Either way, it will be interesting to see how successful Target will become.

Yours truly,
